Terps Under 30

Terps Under 30, SALC’s largest event, is a TED-talk style program held at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. The event includes a networking hour and a dessert reception featuring four recent graduates from various class years, academic colleges and industries. This event attracts over 200 current students and alumni.

Alumni Tours

Alumni Tours give donors and VIP alumni the chance to go on a specialized tour of campus. The SALC has a set route, but can customize the tour based on the preferences of those attending. This gives alumni the chance to see new buildings on campus and visit their favorite spots from when they were students.

Charter Day

Charter Day, celebrated every year on March 6, honors the chartering of the Maryland Agricultural College in 1856. More than 400 students gather around the Testudo statue in front of McKeldin mall and throw a “birthday party” for the university. This event fosters school pride on campus and informs students about the founding of the university.

I <3 UMD Week

I <3 UMD Week is a week of programming that engages students all across campus while fostering a sense of school spirit and educating students on the importance of philanthropy. Past events have included a photo shoot with Testudo, Grad Bash for graduating seniors, coloring and free food, thank you card writing for donors and a party on La Plata Beach.

Legacy Dinner/Brunch

Hosted during Family Weekend, the Legacy Dinner/Brunch is an annual event where we invite current students and their alumni family members to dinner/brunch at the Riggs Alumni Center to connect, hear a few campus updates and enjoy dinner/brunch together.

M Book

The M Book is the guide to the student experience at the University of Maryland.  Books are delivered to first-year students at various  campus-wide and Alumni Association events.

Traditions Keepers

The Alumni Association provides all first year students with an M Book each Fall which highlights Maryland traditions and history. Each book has a “bucket list” of traditions for students to complete during their time at Maryland. Those who complete all items on the” bucket list” will receive a medallion to wear at graduation. Traditions Keepers in SALC will monitor the bucket list progress each year.
